Nancy Katherine ‘Kathy’ Blackman
Funeral services for Nancy Katherine “Kathy” Blackman, 85, of Vinemont, will be held on Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville with a 2 p.m. graveside service. Rev. C.J. Cobb will officiate and Mrs. Blackman will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to service.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Blackman passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 at her residence, surrounded by her family and loving caregivers of Southern Care Hospice. She was born on January 31, 1923 in Hustonville, Kentucky to George McHenry Peavyhouse and Nannie E. Cooper Peavyhouse.
Kathy married Thomas Blackman in 1946 and they had two wonderful sons together. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; her only sibling, Mary Nettie Peavyhouse Dietze and one step-great-grandson, Joseph William Knight.
Survivors include two Sons, William Mack (Melinda) Blackman; Phillip Joseph (Jan) Blackman; nine Grandchildren, Joseph, Ryan, Rebecca, James, Michael, Christopher, Leland, Daisy and Sharon Blackman; four step-grandchildren, Donnie (Paula) McPherson, Rachel (Kevin) Martin; Margaret-Ann Thomas and Jennifer (John) Knight; and twelve step-great-grandchildren.
The visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008 from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The pallbearers will be the grandsons. Kathy was loved and will be greatly missed.
