Funeral services for James Daniel Morgan, 54, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Bob Kurtz and the Rev. Robert Blackwell officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Morgan passed away Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at UAB Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born Nov. 9, 1953, in Cullman to Bert Reid and Mary Lovelady Morgan. A 1972 graduate of Cullman High School, Dan also received his General Social Science Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Education at Auburn University in 1981. At Auburn, he was a member of Chi Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity. Dan worked in used car sales including time at Mitch Smith Chevrolet (formerly Drinkard Chevrolet), men’s retail clothing at Cullman Men’s Shop, and he worked eight years at the Psychiatric Unit at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham. Dan also worked in the family business at Morgan Oil Company. He loved old cars and model cars. He was a founder of the Magic City Car Modeler’s Club, and he served as president of the club for several terms.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lovelady Morgan.
Survivors include his dad, Bert Reid Morgan; a brother, Don (Alice) Morgan; a sister, Dianne (Donnie) Moyer; a niece, Melanie Moyer (Steven) Williams; and a nephew, James Michael (Alison) Moyer; and his beloved cat, Scrappy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cullman Humane Society and the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008.
