Clyde ‘Hansel’ Edmondson
Funeral services for Clyde “Hansel” Edmondson, 83, of Crane Hill will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at Mt. Hope Baptist Church, the Revs. Patrick Cleghorn and Charles Johnson officiating, with interment in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Edmondson passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Physicians Carraway Hospital in Birmingham. He was born on Sept. 15, 1924, to William Clyde and Mary Hill Edmondson. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a maintenance supervisor at Wallace State College. He loved his family, wife, children and grandchildren. He was the wind beneath our wings.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger Dennis Edmondson; a great-grandchild, Julia Spohn; three brothers, Dorian Edmondson, Marvin Edmondson and Spencer Edmondson; five sisters, Ava Lou Addison, Dora Mae Berryman, Ala Fay Castleberry, Mary Dean Wood and Christine Solomon; and three infant babies.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mildred Eady Edmondson; a son, Jerry Edmondson; a daughter, Regina Edmondson Tucker; eight grandchildren, Michaela (Brian) Young, Staff Sergeant Wendy (Sergeant First Class Steve) Spohn; Valerie Edmondson, Matthew (Angela) Edmondson, Heather (Brandon) Watson, Amanda Edmondson, Tasha Tucker and Keelan Tucker; six great-grandchildren, Nathan Young, Ethan Young, Cristina Watson, Joshua Watson, Lukas Spohn and Isaak Edmondson; special friends, Sandra, Libby and Randy; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
