Funeral services for Hazel Garnett Holmes, 78, of Hartselle will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Ronnie Bullard officiating, with burial in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery South in Danville.
Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Holmes died Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born on March 5, 1930, in Morgan County to David Greer and Nell Ledlow Harris. She was a member of Gum Pond Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Alfred Garnett.
Survivors include her husband, Omri Holmes of Hartselle; two sons, Ronnie Garnett of Decatur and Shane Garnett of Denver, Colo.; three stepsons, Dewayne Holmes of Arab, Roland Holmes of Huntsville and Barry Holmes of Cullman; seven daughters, Jane Lee, Jennelle Hembree, Sally Fentress and Tina Garnett, all of Hartselle, Sharon Harvel of Decatur, Rhonda Bates of Trinity and Susan Jones of Florence; three stepdaughters, Becky Holcomb of Pace, Fla., Rita McCain of Cullman and Denise Ozbolt of Eva; a brother, Melvin Lee Garrison of Moulton; two sisters, Diane Sybert and Juanita Owens of Hartselle; 32 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Doug Sims, Terry Lee, Lance Lee, Zac Ward, Michael Hembree, Andrew Harvel, Logan Whitlow and Jason Holmes.
Visitation was Wednesday.
