Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth James Yates, 77, of Salina, Kan., will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel in Salina, the Rev. Terry Henderson of Cullman officiating, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Yates died Wednesday, Aug. 6. Mary has left this world to join her Savior. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was an active life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the Military Order of the Purple Heart Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and fishing. Mary also loved spending time with her family.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Newberry James and Verlie Mills; and a grandson, Max Wilson.
Mary is survived by her husband, Taft C. Yates Sr., of the home; her children, Ann (Roger) Kugler, Gary Yates and Bonnie (Nick) Zaragona, all of Salina, Bobby (Sherri) Yates of Mentor, Taft C. (Barbara) Yates Jr. of Hays, Marie (Wayne) Gardenhire of McPherson, Bettie (Doug) Meade of Schoenchen, Stephen (Lora) Yates of Lincoln, Kathy Yates of Omaha, Neb., and Amy Harmon of Johnson City, Tenn.; 46 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the chapel.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Salina or Disabled American Veteran, Chapter 11 of Salina, Kan.
