A celebration of life service for Grace Jane Fanning, 96, of Garden City will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Bill Ellis officiating, with interment in Garden City Cemetery.
Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
“Mama Grace” passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born on Aug. 9, 1911, in Guin’s Cove in Blount County. Her life was devoted to her Lord, her family, her church, and to helping anyone who was in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daulton and Hettie McAnnally; her loving husband of 51 years, Willis D. Fanning; her beloved son-in-law, Bobby Arnold; two sisters, Dorothy (Allen) Nay and Evelyn “Boots” Thomas; and three brothers, Elmer (Bea) McAnnally, Harrison (Kathleen) McAnnally and Joe (Margaret) McAnnally.
Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Arnold; her grandsons and granddaughters, Mark and Jackie Arnold and Scott and Bridgette Arnold; four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Kattie, Joshua and Jesse Arnold; a brother-in-law, Lige Thomas Jr.; her nieces, nephews and cousins; many friends; and her “special family” at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Building Fund at Garden City First Baptist Church at P.O. Box 173, Garden City, AL 35070.
