Vera Freeman Florence

Funeral service for Vera Freeman Florence, formerly of Cold Springs, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at Cold Springs Missionary Baptist Church, Bremen, Alabama. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.

Moss Service Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Florence passed away Tuesday June 24, 2008. She was born on July 3, 1920. She was a homemaker all her life. She lived all her life except the last five years in the Cold Springs community. Cold Springs was always her home and her heart. In October of 2002, she came to Forsyth, Ga. to be near her son. After coming to Forsyth, she became a member of Paran Missionary Baptist Church. She was active in Save A Pet animal Rescue.

She was very active in her church at Cold Springs Missionary Baptist Church, where she taught Vacation Bible School, Sunday School and Training Union. She attended Southern Baptist Conventions.

Vera, a quite soft spoken person always put family and friends first. Rarely critical of others or prideful, always optimistic, she looked for the best in people and life.

She loved swimming and fishing on Smith Lake where she and her husband stayed during the summer months. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G. C. Florence, Jr., both parents, Charley W. Freeman, Arlena Stricklin Freeman, two brothers: Denson Freeman (died at 4 years old) and Dual Freeman (Nona May deceased).

Survivors include son, Charles W. Florence (Patricia), Forsyth, Georgia; one daughter, Jann Florence King (John), Denver, Colorado; three sisters, Eva Freeman Fields (Emmitt, deceased), Bremen, Alabama, Grace Freeman Manning (L.K. deceased), Cullman, Alabama, Mellojo Freeman Lively (John, deceased), Alabaster, Alabama. One brother, George Coleman Freeman (Emmalene), Bremen, Alabama. Two grandchildren, Drew King and Haley King, Denver Colorado.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2008 at Moss Service Funeral Home.
