Frances Elizabeth Haynes
Funeral services for Frances Elizabeth Haynes, 82, of Arab will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, at Brooklyn Presbyterian Church, Winford Haynes officiating, with interment in Brooklyn Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Haynes died Tuesday, May 13, at her residence. She was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Cullman to Robert Lee and Minnie Lovell Bailey. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She contributed to the World War II effort by working at Oakridge National Laboratories in the development of the atomic bomb that was used on Japan leading to the end of the war. She also worked on the building of military aircraft (Rosie the Riviter) used during World War II. Her love for life, family and God was always her top priority.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vernon and R.B. Bailey; three sisters, Eula Light, Grace Latham and Wilma Michael; and a grandson, Joseph Denson.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Silas B. Haynes; four children, Beverly Haynes Denson, Eugenia (Shawn) Hadaway, Stanley Haynes and Veyon (Nancy) Haynes; a brother-in-law, Earnie (Betty) Haynes; a sister-in-law, Sada Davis; eight grandchildren, Robert Denson, Robert (Melanie) Haynes, Michael (Michelle) Haynes, Daniel Haynes, Lisa Knight, Lynn Sumlin, Chris Haynes and Tammy Lal; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
