Local soldier dies in Iraq
The Department of Defense announced Monday that a Cullman County man was one of two soldiers who died supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Army Staff Sgt. Paul B. Norris, 30, of Holly Pond died Aug. 16 of injuries from a noncombat-related incident along with Spc. Kamisha J. Block, 20, of Vidor, Texas.
Norris and Block were assigned to the 401st Military Police Company, 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade in Fort Hood, Texas.
The accident occured at 5:30 p.m. in Baghdad. Norris died at 8 p.m. in Balad, Iraq. Block died in Baghdad. The incident is under investigation.
According to the associated press, there have been 3,707 fatalities to date, 658 of which were non-hostile deaths.

Funeral services for Edna Juliann Reinhardt, 86, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with interment in Cullman Memory Gardens.
