The Cullman Times
Christmas might seem far away to your little ones right now, but if you are a parent, or a merchant, it’s time to buckle down and get ready for the holiday season which officially begins Nov. 9-10, with the much anticipated Christmas In Cullman Open House.
Parents will be happy to note that this year’s Christmas In Cullman Open House will help them to get a jump-start on holiday shopping by taking advantage of sales and early markdowns. Merchants will be gearing up for the busiest time of the year.
The Christmas In Cullman celebration is in its 28th year. Because there are currently so many great shopping opportunities in our community, this year promises to be the best ever.
For almost three decades, as Cullman has grown and expanded to include the historic downtown district, the lovely renovated Warehouse District, and the shops, stores, and plazas from one end of town to the other, more and more people have gravitated to Cullman from all over North Alabama.
Shopping can be a real pleasure when stores are all decked out for the season. The sights, smells and sounds of the holidays are a wonderful catalyst to motivate people to come out and enjoy the festive atmosphere all over town.
Children always enjoy a visit with Santa. This year there will also be Christmas music lending a joyful note on street corners hung with garlands of greenery and festive bows, transforming the city into a winter wonderland.
Many merchants will offer delightful refreshments, including hot cocoa and cider, and an array of holiday cookies and other goodies.
As part of the incentive to shop locally, the Chamber will also be offering free gift wrapping for businesses that are Chamber members at their office at 301 2nd Avenue, making it easier on busy moms and dads.
Visitors to the city will be enchanted with the beautifully created window displays throughout the city. The competition for best dressed holiday window display brings out the best in innovative new, or traditional decorating ideas.
Activities and displays are being added daily. Weiss Cottage will be opened from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, and will be one of many displays created especially for children with lots of surprises from the North Pole. They will have so much fun decorating Christmas cookies in the enchanting designated children’s area next door to this charming historic Cullman landmark.
And you don’t want to miss the beautiful Sportsman’s Lake Winter Wonderland Christmas Light Display from Dec. 1-23. There is something for everyone in Cullman this year.
The Christmas In Cullman Facebook page will advertise all events in Cullman from Nov. 9 until Christmas, so if anyone has anything they would like listed, they can email firstname.lastname@example.org or share on the Christmas In Cullman Facebook page.
