CULLMAN —
Private Landon D. Moon, 18, of Cullman graduated from the U.S. Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., Jan. 11, 2013. Private Moon successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training as one of 67 recruits with the Lima Company, Platoon 3001.
While in basic training, PVT Moon earned an expert rifle qualification and served as fire team leader. Following 10 days home on leave and seven days as recruiter assistant, Moon will report to Camp LeJeune, N.C., for one month of military combat training followed by a military occupation specialty school.
Landon is the son of Gary "Dewayne" Moon and Karen Moon. He is the grandson of Martha Smith and the late Harlan O. Smith and Ronnie and June Moon, all of Cullman.
