Cullman area contestants numerous in Alabama Talent Hunt

Several talented people from the Cullman County area are counted among those who have advanced to the statewide rounds in the Alabama Talent Hunt.

According to Alabama Talent Hunt Director Barry Hendrick, Cullman County has more contestants in this competition who have made it to the statewide rounds than any other county in Alabama.

The Alabama Talent Hunt is a statewide individual vocal talent competition with five elimination rounds. “Seventy-eight people passed auditions statewide for this year’s competition and as we enter Round 4, only 44 are left. Nine of those are from Cullman County,” said Hendrick.

“Last year, three of the 10 grand prize winners were from the Cullman area: Josey Hardman (teen division), Winston McCurley (teen division) and Callie Gilliland (children’s division),” Hendrick continued.

Grand Prize winners receive a recording contract with Alabama Talent Company and are placed on the CD “Alabama’s Emerging Artists” which is available on iTunes. They also receive a 12-month development contract with Alabama Talent Company to create a customized plan for greater success in the music industry. This year looks promising for several Cullman County contestants as they have advanced from the regional rounds to the state-wide rounds.

Final elimination rounds will be held for Alabama Talent Hunt/North Region, at 6 p.m. April 26, at Bell Building at UAB in the theatre, 1220 University Blvd., Birmingham, Alabama 35233 (not the Bell Theatre on 3rd Ave.).

The mission of Alabama Talent Company is to discover, develop, and promote musical talent from the state of Alabama for the benefit of Alabama and beyond.

“Our vision is to become the premier path to success for the most talented musicians from the state of Alabama so that they can be recognized by music fans everywhere. We are ‘Alabama Proud’!” says Hendrick.

“We are committed to having family-friendly values in all we do, practicing and promoting integrity and excellence with our team, and shaping the music culture by advancing more positive role models for music fans of all ages,” he continued.

Special guest will be 2013 grand prize winner, Callie Gilliland from Addison, Alabama.

The state final round (Round 6) is set for 6 p.m. May 17, at Bell Building at UAB in the theatre, 1220 University Blvd., Birmingham, Alabama 35233.
