The Cullman Times
This Saturday, the walking dead will fill the streets of downtown Cullman.
No, there’s not a zombie apocalypse, just a day full of Halloween fun to include a zombie crawl, a mob “Thriller” dance, “brain-eating contest” and zombie dance party. Proceeds for the horrific event will benefit Mental Healthcare of Cullman and Victim Services of Cullman.
The zombification will begin at noon Saturday across from Berkely Bob’s Coffee House with zombie makeup artists who will transform the living into the dead. The cost is $5 children and $7 for adults. Then from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. residents who want to learn the iconic Michael Jackson “Thriller” dance can get a free lesson.
The zombie crawl will begin at 4:30 p.m., but participants must register before 4 p.m. The cost is $13 per person. Prizes will be awarded for oldest and youngest zombie, best zombie costume, best zombie walk and biggest zombie group, organizers said.
The crawl will begin at the Busy Bee Café on First Avenue, go along the sidewalks up Fourth Street to the All Steak restaurant, down Third Avenue to U.S. 278 and then back down to First Avenue. The crawl is expected to end at 5:30 p.m.
The free mob “Thriller” dance will begin at 5:45 p.m. The “brain-eating contest” starts at 6 p.m, and the cost to participate is $5. Then from 7- 10 p.m., residents can enjoy live music and a zombie dance party.
The Victim Services of Cullman and Mental Healthcare of Cullman provide help and services for victims of child abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence and rape and local residents with mental health and psychological issues.
