Pets of the week: Lacota is a stray looking for his family; Granita and Jadaya need forever homes

— My name is Granita, center, I am about 8 months old and currently weigh 21 lbs. Originally, I came in as a stray so there isn’t any background info on me but now, I am up for adoption. I am a very sweet dog and believed to be a Basenji or mix thereof. I get along well with the other dogs in my kennel. My name is Lacota, top, and I am a stray at the Cullman Animal Shelter. I will be up for adoption on 03/20/14 at 1 pm if my family doesn’t come to claim me. I currently weigh 8.2 lbs and I am about 4 years old. My name is Jadaya, bottom, I am a stray at Cullman Animal Shelter and I am hoping to find my family. I am a sweet little Yorkie mix and I can’t wait to meet you. Cullman County Animal Shelter Adoption hours are 9 – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the shelter. Off site adoptions are at Pet Depot and Tractor Supply every Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Cats are for adoption all the time at Pet Depot. Adoption fee is $90 for dogs/puppies and $65 for cats/kittens. This fee includes: Dogs: DA2PP, Bordetella, Strongid, General exam at the Vet, Rabies, Micro-chip and the Spay/Neuter. Cats: Fel-O-Vax IV + Calici, Strongid, General exam at the Vet, Rabies, Micro-chip and the Spay/Neuter. The shelter’s foster pet program is currently in need of supplies. Donations can be dropped off on Saturdays at Pet Depot between 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. To see all of the dogs and cats at the shelter and in the foster program, please The shelter’s foster pets program is currently in need of volunteers who would be able to transport animals to and from vet appointments.
