Wallace State and Alabama Department of Public Health draw big turnout during flu clinic
Wallace State Community College and the Alabama Department of Public Health (Cullman County Health Department) co-sponsored a flu clinic Monday at the college’s Wellness Center. The clinic, which was open to students, employees and the entire community for $5, served 488 individuals.
Students and faculty in Wallace State’s Nursing Department and ADPH employees administered the immunizations.
Survivor of Sixteenth Street bombing is Common Read speaker
Less than one month after the 50th anniversary of the Sept. 15, 1963, bombing of Birmingham’s Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, a woman who survived the attack that killed four young friends will visit the campus of Wallace State Community College. Carolyn Maull McKinstry will participate in the college’s fifth Common Read initiative during which her book “While the World Watched” will be read, discussed and incorporated into the curricula for some of the college classes.
North Alabama Agriplex Heritage Center's parking lot dedication
The North Alabama Agriplex Heritage Center hosted a parking lot dedication on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013. The Cullman Savings Bank donated a grant in memory of James Hutchinson in tribute for his idea of an agriculture museum for Cullman County.
