Wallace State Choral groups take D.C. by storm
The Wallace State Concert Choir and Singers visited the nation’s Capital on their spring tour. The Singers drew a crowd of bystanders to their 1:15 p.m. performance at the Lincoln Memorial on a beautiful spring day last Saturday.

Four area Lions received awards for long years of service
Four Cullman Lions have received notification of their long terms of service to Lionism from Lions International. All of the Lions who have served as president and in various other leadership positions of the club have received the Monarch Chevron Award.

The Fox Hill Riding Team consists of English and Western riders who train throughout the year under the instruction of Lee Adams for competitions in Alabama.

Cullman chapter of Daughters of the Confederacy part of new reorganization
Nathan Bedford Forrest Chapter 2410, United Daughters of the Confederacy, hosted a reorganizational meeting March 30, which was led by Kay Gamble Neel of Cullman and Lynda Thrower Lowery of Heflin. Neel currently is a member of the Joe Wheeler Chapter 291 of Decatur and serves as historian. Dr. Lowery is president of the Major General Patrick R. Cleburne Chapter 2632, and she is also former Alabama Division UDC President 2010-2012. The meeting was held at McGukin Civic Center in Cullman.

Good Hope Elementary pageant winners 2013
The 2013 Good Hope Elementary School pageant was held March 7. Proceeds benefitted the Technology Department at the school.

Cullman Women's League donations to HOPE
Katie Free, president of the Cullman Women's League, recently presented a check to Kerri Roberts of H.O.P.E., a new non-profit organization that involves using horses to help children with disabilities. Cullman Women's League has produced a cookbook, “Uniquely Cullman.” Proceeds from the sale of the cookbook has been donated to various charities in Cullman.

Author to receive Distinguished Alumni award
Dr. C. Eugene Scruggs, author and 1956 Cullman High School graduate, has been chosen to select the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Cullman City Schools Foundation at an awards ceremony (11 a.m to 1 p.m.) Friday, April 12, at The Atrium, 3920 Highway 157, Cullman 35058.
