Pilot Light House Pageant

CULLMAN — On July 29, approximately 90 pageant contestants competed in the Pageant Olympians beauty pageant, held by Alabama Pageants at McGukin Civic Center in Cullman. This pageant was held to raise money for the Pilot Light House. Contestants were encouraged to raise their own donations and the winner with the most donations would be crowned the Pageant Olympian Torchbearer. Special guest, Picabo Street, former Olympic Gold Medalist and World Record holder, signed autographs prior to the pageant and visited contestants. She opened the pageant with a few words and then the contestants took the stage.

At the end of the night were crowned eight Pageant Olympian queens. The highlight of the show was the crowning of Emma Kate Griggs from the 4-5 year-old group as Pageant Olympian Torchbearer. She raised $1,500 for the Pilot Light home. In total, contestants and pageant donated $3,800 in cash donations to the Pilot Light House. Rebecca Branch, Pilot Club president, was on hand to crown Emma Griggs. Emma received a large trophy, a crown and a sash.
