New Junior ROTC program receives donation from Cullman's veterans organizations

CULLMAN — The Cullman Career Development Center of the Cullman County School System has a new Junior ROTC program up and running for the first time in our county. Retired U.S. Army Col. Bud Jones and Sgt, Chad Ullery are the instructors for 42 area high school students. The government does not fully fund the program until it's second year, so Cullman's veterans organizations have stepped up to defray the cost of uniform items for the new county cadets. Three of those commanders met for lunch this week with the new ROTC Instructors to donate over $3,000 to the new program. Shown are, from left, are VFW Cdr. Jerry Willibey, American Legion Cdr. Herman Reid, Col. Bud Jones, Sgt. Chad Ullery and DAV Commander James Graves.
