CULLMAN —
Food Check-Out Week by the Cullman County Farmers Federation and Women's Leadership Committee by donating to Cullman Caring for Kids. Feb. 19-25 is designated Food Check-Out Week this year commemorating the time of year when the average American has earned enough income to pay for their entire year's food supply..
Now in its 14th year, Food Check-Out Week also highlights America's safe, abundant and affordable food supply made possible by America's productive farmers. According to the most recent information from the USDA's Economic Research Service, American families and individuals spend, on average, less than 10 percent of their disposable personal income for food.
Most of the 67 County Farmers Federations celebrate this week by collecting and donating food items to Ronald McDonald Houses in Alabama and sponsoring monetary donations to local food banks such as Cullman Caring for Kids. The Cullman County Farmers Federation and Women's Leadership Committee donate to Cullman Caring for Kids in recognition of this event each year.
