Author to receive Distinguished Alumni award

CULLMAN — Dr. C. Eugene Scruggs, author and 1956 Cullman High School graduate, has been chosen to select the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Cullman City Schools Foundation at an awards ceremony (11 a.m to 1 p.m.) Friday, April 12, at The Atrium, 3920 Highway 157, Cullman 35058.

A man of many talents: author, singer, teacher, professor, artist, linguist and chevalier (French Ministry of Education) to name a few. Currently serving Westminster Presbyterian in Lakeland, Fla., as a member of the choir and as a Sunday School teacher, as well as professor emeritus at the University of South Florida.

Dr. Scruggs will have copies of his book about Cullman, “The View From Brindley Mountain: A Memoir of the Rural South,” available for purchase, signed by the author.
