Cullman Fire Rescue Firefighters train in old high school buildings

CULLMAN — Cullman Fire Rescue firefighters had a unique opportunity this past week to complete forcible entry training utilizing the buildings scheduled for demolition at Cullman High School. The fire department was able to test new strategies and tactics for gaining access to buildings in an efficient manner. The training included breaching concrete walls, forcing doors and accessing buildings through overhead doors. “Allowing us to use the buildings really helped our firefighters to improve their skills on forcible entry. There is no good substitute for this type of training, and it is very difficult for us to secure buildings for training of this nature. We truly appreciate Cullman City Schools for allowing us to use the buildings. It was a great week of training,” said Chief Edward Reinhardt.
