CULLMAN —
Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Dulaney announce the engagement of their daughter, Erin Nichole Dulaney, to Steven Randal Jacks, son of Randal Jacks of Cropwell and Vickie Cooper of Jacksonville, Ala.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Willard and Joyce Dulaney of Eastaboga, and Peggy Wilborn and Leroy Wilborn, both of Cullman.
Ms. Dulaney is a graduate of Cullman High School with honors (top 5 percent of her class with a 3.95 GPA), and the University of North Alabama in Florence, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in biology, with a minor in chemistry. She graduated as a pre-medicine major with a GPA of 3.32. Her awards and achievements during her high school years include being selected as Miss Cullman High School, homecoming queen, section leader of the drumline for two years and was class vice president. Awards and achievements at the university include being chosen as president, vice president, academic chairman and philanthropy chairman of Phi Mu Sorority. She was a member of the LaGrange Society and was a university ambassador. She was third runner-up the 2008 and 2010 Miss UNA pageants and was a swimsuit preliminary winner in 2010. She was a member of the Student Government Association, a UNA Senator, member and president of Order of Omega, member of Omicron Delta Kappa, Alpha Lambda Delta, Gamma Beta Phi and Phi Eta Sigma; was in the honors program, Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society, and Tri-Beta Biological Honor Society.
She is currently employed with Cullman OB/GYN and attending UAB for post-baccaulaureate school, then plans to attend medical school.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Betty Jacks of Cropwell and the late Wayne Jacks, and Anita Brannon of Riverside.
Mr. Jacks was a 2006 graduate of Pell City High School and a 2012 graduate of the University of North Alabama in Florence, with a bachelor of arts degree in history and a minor in political science. He was an Upwards football, basketball and soccer coach for the community and a Reconstruct Non-Profit Mission Leader. While at university, he was the published author of three books, was Top Lawyer while participating in mock trials, a member of the UNA Student Government Association, a UNA Senator, in the Collegiate Legislature, was rush chairman and society chairman of Phil Gamma Delta Fraternity and was a journalist for the Flor-Ala newspaper.
He is presently employed with Benton and Centeno Law Firm in Birmingham.
The wedding is planned for 4 p.m. Jan. 12, 2013.
