Jones - Johnson engagement

CULLMAN — Vol and Patti Jones of Hanceville announce the engagement of their daughter, Valerie Jones, to William Johnson, son of Tim and Jane Johnson and Kelly Wrenn, all of Athens.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of James Jones of Hanceville and the late Lois Jones, and the late Jack and Wilma Wood.

Miss Jones is a 2006 graduate of Hanceville High School; and a 2010 graduate of the University of North Alabama, where she received a bachelor of arts degree; and a 2011 graduate of the University of Alabama, where she earned a master of arts degree. Her studies include secondary education, Spanish, and higher education administration. She graduated from both universities with honors. Valerie is currently employed with the University of Alabama in Huntsville as the tutor coordinator for the Student Success Center.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Bill and Jackie Wrenn and Glenn and Phyllis Johnson, all of Athens.

Mr. Johnson is a 2002 graduate of Athens High School. He is a 2005 graduate of the Delta State University with a bachelor of science degree; and a 2009 graduate of the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a master of science degree in engineering. His studies concentrated on mathematics and systems engineering. He graduated from both universities with honors. William is presently employed with Northrop Grumman as a systems engineer.

The wedding is planned for March 17, 2012, at Hanceville First United Methodist Church.
