CACC's Welding Program contest winners

Cullman Area Career Center

CULLMAN — On Jan. 25, students from the Cullman Area Career Center’s Welding Program attended a local welding contest at Blount County Career Tech School. The instructor and team sponsor for CACC, Nolan Dooley, is very proud of his students for their accomplishments. There were five different counties present at the contest and approximately 50 students competed for scholarships and prizes. Our own, Cullman Area Career Center’s Welding Team walked away with top honors.

In the 10th – 11th Grade Division: Michael Bartlett, third place; Trevor Sinyard, second place; and Austin Lively, first place, all of West Point.

These individuals received great prizes including a new torch set, automatic darkening welding helmets, new gloves, hats and other great prizes.

In the Senior Division: Andy Aguirre, first place, of West Point. Andy received a 100 percent paid scholarship to Tulsa Welding School in Jacksonville, Fla.

All of the students worked really hard and represented their schools well. As a community, we have a lot to be thankful for in knowing that our career tech instructors/schools are preparing students for the workforce. Our students are developing skills needed for the future.
