Cullman Area Career Center
Students from the Cullman Area Career Center participated in the Wallace State Skills Invitational Feb. 13. CACC was well represented in four different programs of study; Welding, Pre-Machining, Auto Service Repair, and Drafting.
Students in career technology programs are required to demonstrate a specified range of skills within their respected field of study. The Wallace State Skills Invitational is an annual event which allows career technology students the opportunity to compete against other students/schools in the area.
The Drafting Department at the Cullman Area Career Center, under the instructions of Rick Garrison, placed in two specialized areas of drafting. Taylor Tucker, senior from Holly Pond, placed first in the mechanical drafting division. Alex Hale, a senior from Vinemont High School, took first place in architectural drafting. Both students received a $500 Bagwell Scholarship for winning their division.
Each of the instructors who attended the event agrees that the competition brings out the best in their students. It gives students the opportunity to meet other students in the field and view their skills as they too, prepare for future employment. We at CACC are very proud of our students and their accomplishments as they prepare for the future in the workforce.
