National School Counselor Recognition Week at HMS

HANCEVILLE — Debbie Abbott is the counselor at Hanceville Middle School. HMS recognized her this week at an assembly where the students showered her with letters and cards telling how much they appreciate her and how she has helped them since they have been at HMS. The faculty and staff had letters, cards and flowers to present to her and she was treated to a special lunch.

She has been the counselor at HMS for six years and worked as an elementary teacher before counseling. She is a valuable component of the HMS staff. She is very involved with the students and genuinely concerned about the HMS students.

"It takes a very special person to be a school counselor and she is exactly that!  She listens to the students and cares about them. She is so loved by the students and the teachers at Hanceville Middle School."said Cyndi Roden, HMS principal

"She has a gift for talking to students and letting them know they can confide in her and the students really open up and talk to her.  She is very helpful to the students that need someone to talk to and someone to listen." said Jimmy Collins, HMS assistant principal.
