Community Action Partnership of North Alabama
Kim Dodd, Director of Children Services has announced that the first day of class for 90 Preschool Head Start Classrooms in the Partnership’s service area will be Friday, September 6. 11 Early Head Start and 16 Alabama PreK classrooms opened on August 19.
The Community Action Partnership of North Alabama, with its central office in Decatur, expanded its service area into Madison and Limestone Counties during the summer. Unfortunately, several of the areas to be served have classroom space that will need renovation or actual replacement. Classroom supplies, playground equipment and other upgrades are being made as quickly as possible to enable children to attend safe and licensed classrooms that serve the needs of children. In some locations children may be limited to a four hour day until Alabama Day Care Licensing Department completes their review of each of the 24 newly acquired classrooms. Parents will be informed at each location to ensure the smoothest possible opening day for children. Notices have been posted regarding classroom status and each family will be notified within 7 days of their child’s classroom location and their acceptance into that classroom.
The Partnership has hired and trained classroom and support staff that will engage in the delivery of quality services and intentional instruction for the 432 children who will be served through this expansion in Madison and Limestone Counties. With this expansion the Partnership will now operate one of the largest preschool programs in the state. The Partnership also delivers results through 11 Early Head Start Classrooms and 16 State of Alabama Pre K classrooms, serving a total of 1,996 children from birth to 5 years.
