Hanceville High School
Our school, Hanceville High, has experienced many victories in the past year. Our math team had a fantastic year! They were able to win the 3A State Championship this past Spring. Our math teachers, Mrs. Lisle, Mrs. Whaley, and Coach House, expressed great pride in their victory. Kelsey Ryan and Marissa Smith (who are now seniors) were members of this champ team. Both girls expressed how great it felt f or them to be a part of this winning team. Kelsey and Marissa said they felt pressured to win because both the Science Team and Scholar’s Bowl Team won county championships. Both the teachers and girls said they are looking forward to this year and expect to be just as successful as last!
Hannah Davis was awarded Student of the Month at Hanceville High School for August 2011. Hanceville High School awards a new student each month for academic excellence and good character. She said this was a great honor for her. When she was asked what tricks she uses to contribute to her success, she replied, “Flash cards and energy drinks never hurt!” Congratulations Hannah.
Hanceville High’s own starting quarterback, Broc Malcom, was awarded Athlete of the Month for August 2011. Not only does he play football, he also runs track. Broc won the individual state title in the 400 meter run at the state track meet last Spring. He felt wonderful for getting this award. Broc described his experience to me in the following words: “Before I began running, I was very nervous, and my adrenaline was rushing!” It must work out pretty well for him. He has a few, pretty-awesome colleges looking at him for the future. Keep up the great work Broc!
Hanceville High School is going to have a fantastic year. Good luck to all teams! Go Bulldogs!
