Berlin Sunshine Club News

CULLMAN — The Berlin Sunshine Club met at the Berlin Community Center at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24, for the monthly meeting. The meeting was opened with prayer and blessing by Jill Bishop-Hollis. The devotion, based on the life of Paul, was led by Ann Bishop. Hostesses for the meeting were Ann Bishop, Jill Bishop-Hollis and June Butts. They used a very fitting winter theme for the decorations. The tablecloths were frosty blue with a snowman for the centerpiece. They served a variety of soups and trimmings for a delicious buffet meal.

President Ruth Freeman presided over the business meeting. The minutes and financial report were given respectively by Gail Wood and Joan Walker. After discussion, the club voted to pay Ruth Freeman for cleaning the community center. It was left very untidy by a recent renter. Other business: The election of officers for 2013-2014 results are: President Becky Smith, Vice President Jill Bishop-Hollis, Corresponding Secretary Janice Hayes, Recording Secretary Gail Wood, Treasurer Joan Walker, Club Mother Peggy Hardman. Committees were also voted on.

Karen Dunn won the hostess gift.

Others attending were Marie Walker, Tootie Sanford, Marilyn Bolte, Susie Smith and Doris Walker.

The next meeting will be a mother/daughter banquet Feb. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the community center in Berlin.
