U.S. Congressman Robert Aderholt announced this week he was appointed to the U.S. House defense subcommittee.
The committee sets annual appropriations levels and has federal spending oversight for the departments of Army, Navy (including Marines), Air Force and Marines, as well as the Central Intelligence Agency and Intelligence Community Staff.
“Given the history of working with Redstone Arsenal over the years, I have seen first hand the important role northern Alabama and the entire state plays in our national defense, particularly as it relates to missile defense,” Aderholt said in a press release Wednesday. “This is particularly important as the Department of Defense continues to transition to meet new threats.”
Congressman Aderholt is serving in his ninth term representing Alabama’s Fourth Congressional District and is Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture.
