    Ed Henke, of the Cullman Lions' Club, presented a check for $6,500 to Stephanie Coffey, teacher of the visually impaired; and Tiffanye Mitchell, coordinator of Special Education, Cullman County School System. These funds will be used to purchase equipment and material for students with visual impairments in the Cullman County School System.

  • EES to present ‘Oklahoma’

    Students at East Elementary School will present the Broadway musical “Oklahoma” at 7 p.m. April 25; and at 1 p.m. April 16, in the school’s gym. Doors will be open one hour early each day. Admission is $5; children five years and under are free. Proceeds will go to future productions by the East Elementary Musical Theatre Department.

    The City of Cullman recently made a donation to the Cullman Veterans Memorial Park at Sportsman Lake. This donation allowed for the completion of the park, which includes the pavilion, new flags, and the large concrete American flag that greets all who enter the park.

    Dr. Bill Deutsch, professor emeritus at Auburn University and founder of Alabama Waterwatch, will be the guest speaker during Wallace State Community College’s Earth Day events on April 22, sponsored by the Green Team. Deutsch is a researcher with Auburn University’s School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences and recently returned from working on a water project in Kenya.
