Local authorities spent a portion of Wednesday investigating a complaint about the price of VIP tickets offered for sale by an individual through the internet.

VIP tickets officially sold for $169 for the two-day Rock the South concert, but this week an individual was offering them for $600 each, said Cullman Police Chief Kenny Culpepper.

After some research of the Alabama State Code, Culpepper said the tickets may be legal through an electronic transfer, such as an internet site. A portion of the code, 40-12-167, maintains that a special license needed to be purchased to sell tickets above the regular price, but apparently an exception is in place for the internet.

Verifying that tickets are authentic when purchased from an individual or non-sanctioned source is the responsibility of the buyer, the chief said.
