Cullman City Primary School
Lanie Williamson, a media specialist with Cullman City Primary School, was awarded the Herman Moore Lamp award at the Alabama Library Expo at Calhoun Community College in September. This award is given annually to outstanding media specialists in the state of Alabama. Mrs. Williamson is in her sixth year at the school.
“She makes the library the heart and hub of our school. Mrs. Williamson continually writes grants which enables our school to have up to date books and exceptional technology. Last year, a Smart Table was established and CCPS now has 25 Nook Readers. She is an integral part of Cullman City Primary School and a wonderful asset to Cullman City Primary School,” says Tricia Culpepper, principal of Cullman Primary School and Head Start Director.
A Smart Table is a social, inclusive and captivating collaboration tool that makes it easy to get young students excited about learning. It’s a great way to enhance the social and academic skills of active learners and help all students achieve success. Mrs. Williamson also opened up the library during the CCPS summer reading academy and held reading activities based on the level of each student. She was nominated for this award by her principal.
