Medical building heavily damaged in Cullman fire

CULLMAN — The Health Imaging Services Pet Center on Warnke Circle, just off Eva Road, was heavily damaged Friday afternoon in a massive fire that engulfed the entire structure.

Cullman Fire Rescue responded to the call at approximately 3 p.m. and was able to evacuate everyone inside. One minor injury was reported.

It took fire fighters approximately 20 minutes to get the blaze under control, and Eva Road was briefly closed by Cullman Police due to an abundance of smoke.

The Vinemont Volunteer Fire Department was on standby to assist.

“We appreciate the support and hard work of everyone,” Cullman Fire Chief Edward Reinhardt, Jr. said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though the blaze started just as a major thunderstorm hit the area. Officials say the storm could be a factor, but would not rule out other potential causes at this point.
