UPDATE: Identities released in Cullman motorcycle fatality

CULLMAN — A Cullman man was killed instantly early Wednesday morning when another vehicle collided with the motorcycle he was driving.

Jerry Kendall, 58, was traveling on a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle at approximately 6:55 a.m. when his bike was struck by a 2002 GMC at the intersection of Golf Course Road and U.S. Highway 31.

Kendall died of blunt force trauma at the scene, Cullman County Coroner Steve Rodgers confirmed. Kendall had worked with J&S Karaoke and was also the postmaster general of Vinemont.

The driver of the GMC, 17-year-old Conner Pruett of Cullman, was not injured.

Kendall was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The cause of the incident is currently under investigation by the Alabama State Troopers.

The Cullman Police Department had initially responded to the accident call, but transferred jurisdiction to the State Troopers after investigators realized one of the drivers involved was related to a police officer in the city.

“They have agreed to investigate the accident and we appreciate their willingness to do so,” Cullman assistant police chief Craig Green said. “Our department is praying for all of the families affected by this event.”
