Bus Driver Assaults

In this Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 photo, Jose Rondon, left, and his daughter Monique Rondon ride a familiar bus route in New York. Last summer, Jose Rondon's 27-year career as a Metropolitan Transit Authority bus driver stopped suddenly at 231st and Broadway in the Bronx, after an unprovoked attack by a troubled passenger broke his nose and bloodied his face. More than 80 bus operators are assaulted every year in New York City, home to the nation's largest bus system.
