Cullman County 4-H Wildlife Judging Team captures state title

CULLMAN — Cullman County 4-H Wildlife Teams just returned from a trip to Auburn where they competed with teams from all over the State of Alabama in the Wildlife Competition. Competition covered all areas of Wildlife Judging including:  Identification, Aerial Photo Wildlife Management, Wildlife Food and on-site Wildlife Management practices. Participants were coached by Jay Conway, Regional Extension Agent, Beth Self, Extension Administrative Assistant and Raydonna Sims, Extension Agent Assistant. Individual Senior Competitive Awards are as follows:

• Senior Wildlife Identification: Alicia Self and Mark Newton, third place; Lacey Barrett, first place

• Senior Aerial Photo: Lacey Barrett, fifth place; Mark Newton, third

• Senior Food Identification: Lacey Barrett, fifth; Mark Newton, third

• Senior Wild Life Management Practice: Alicia Self, fifth; Mark Newton, fourth; and Lacey Barrett, first

• Senior Overall Individual: Mark Newton, third, Lacey Barrett, second

• Cullman’s Junior teams: Clay Conway, A.J. Quick and Colby Tyree, placed fifth; Cutter Green, Caleb Tyree and Will Warren, fourth; and Sarah Brock, Caylin Barker, Julie Newton and Serena Knedlik, placed third.

• Individual competitive state awards are as follows:

• Junior Wildlife Identification: Caylin Barker, Sarah Brock and Colby Tyree, fifth; A.J. Quick, fourth; Julie Newton, Cutter Green and Will Warren, third; Clay Conway, first

• Junior Aerial Photo: Serena Knedlik, fifth

• Junior Foods Identification: Clay Conway, fifth; Julie Newton, fourth

• Junior Wildlife Management Practice: Will Warren, fifth; Serena Knedlik and Julie Newton, fourth

• Junior Overall Individual: Will Warren, fifth; Julie Newton, fourth
