Farm Kids' Club wash day

CULLMAN — The North Alabama Agriplex's Farm Kids’ Club held Wash Day Aug. 4, at the new Heritage Center. All participants learned about the historic changes of doing laundry through the years, and washed clothes with a scrubboard and wash tub. The participants toured the Peinhardt Living History Farm Museum and were able to see washing machines and how they have progressed through the years starting with iron pots and washtubs and moving to electric Maytag ringer washers. The next Farm Kid's Club will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 1, and will explore cotton. This is a parent/child program for kids age kindergarten and up. The cost is $5 per child. To register, contact Rachel Dawsey at 256-297-1044 or e-mail to cullmanag@gmail.com.
