PLATTE CITY, Mo. —
Payden Smith, Cullman, Alabama, exhibited the Grand Champion Prospect Steer, MLCO Sir Charles 42Z, at the 2013 American Junior Chianina Association (AJCA) National Junior Heifer Show (NJHS) June 20, in Grand Island, Neb. The steer, weighing 726 lbs, is an Aug. 16, 2012, Monopoly son out of MLCO MS Business 3P.
Smith also exhibited the Class 5 winning female in the Chianina, Chimaine, and Chiford Show on June 21, MMMC Lady Calypso, an Oct. 14, 2012, daughter of Believe In Me.
Throughout the week, Smith also competed in showmanship, livestock judging, and photography along with a top ten finish in the Stockman's challenge ending up in 5th place in the intermediate division.
"How the West was Won," the 2013 NJHS, kicked off June 15 and concluded June 21, 2013. Fonner Park of Grand Island, Nebraska, was host to the show, including 156 Chianina junior exhibitors and 153 head of Chi and Chi-influenced cattle from 19 states. Dr. Clint Rusk of Stillwater, Oklahoma, was the judge.
