CULLMAN — FCCLA members from Cullman County and City schools participated in the county wide beef cook-off. Students watched as Ben Haynes discussed the process that farmers go through from the birthing of their calves to the meat processing plant. He also talked about the various places from the steer that the cuts of beef come from. Shane Pinyan brought a 13-month-old steer for the students to observe while the discussion was going on. The event is sponsored by the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association with premiums for first through fifth place being donated by the Cullman Cattlewomen. The first place winner will now go on to compete in the state competition that will be held in Montgomery.
